Are you a small business owner, or entrepreneur interested in building a strong foundation for your new business? Our partners at the Straight Shot Podcast are pushing out a Small Business Startup crash course, and to be honest, it’s a great place to start. Hosted by the staff of Reformation Productions, an Atlanta-based marketing agency, Straight Shot examines how marketing impacts everyday life.
Richard Branson said, “A big business starts small.” In this series, the hosts elaborate on the roots and fundamentals of owning a business and provide a long list of resources available to new and existing businesses.
Part One focuses on building a foundation. In the early days of your new business, a lot of what you need to do is relatively formulaic. Every business has to file the proper forms. Every business has to make financial plans, and most need to source funding. But there’s one piece that is an outlier: defining your brand. More than 50% of your business is communication of who you are, what your brand’s personality is, how your brand stands out against competitors, etc. You’ll learn a lot about branding in this episode, which originally aired on March 19th. In Part Two, which aired on June 1, the team at Reformation invited Benny StaRomana to discuss the Small Business Development Center, a valuable resource to small businesses and entrepreneurs. StaRomana is an SBDC Business Consultant, who provides coaching and guidance to small business owners, whether they are just starting out or already established. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, process improvement, marketing and sales. StaRomana is on staff at the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center, but there are SBDC chapters nationwide. For more information, you can visit americassbdc.org. Part Three, which aired on June 16, focuses on the Chamber of Commerce. The team welcomed Cally D’Angelo, the Senior Director of Membership Services and Small Business Initiatives for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. Cally provides some insight and guidance to the types of programs and events that the Chamber hosts in order to foster better small business networking and recruitment opportunities. Even down to reopening after COVID, the Chamber can be a very valuable resource to small business startups. Learn more on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
